ICEEFT CertifiedTrainer Responsibilities and Co-ordination

ICEEFT Certified EFT Trainers are the primary leaders in promoting the Mission of ICEEFT, namely to educate mental health practitioners and to increase public awareness as to the efficacy of EFT and its role in strengthening relationship bonds.

The role of an EFT Trainer is demanding. EFT Trainers lead Externships, Advanced Core Skills, Advanced Externships and offer Supervision. Typically, a trainer is affiliated with an EFT Centre and often serves as the Director of that Centre.

Trainers responsibilities typically include:

  • Developing and/or promoting an EFT Centre
  • Serving as primary liaison between the ICEEFT Board of Directors and a local EFT Centre
  • Serving on ICEEFT Committees
  • Contributing to the development of EFT practice, supervision, training and research
  • Co-operating and being mutually supportive of each other's efforts in the development of EFT training events and resources

Following the Core Values of ICEEFT, EFT Trainers seek opportunities to support the development of EFT Centres and/or Communities through innovation, collaboration, and promotion of the best interests of EFT practitioners. As ambassadors and stewards of the EFT model, Trainers seek opportunities to actively collaborate and cross train with other Trainers thereby furthering the development of EFT expertise at a global and local level. When training opportunities or invitations involve overlapping interests and expertise, Trainers will contact their colleagues in the area of interest to consult and coordinate any training they wish to offer with existing training programs and community initiatives. This open, co-operative consultation respects the considerable effort and investment of all trainers and community organizers and reflects the collaborative nature of the EFT model.

As of June 2014, there are 30 EFT Trainers in North America, 4 Trainers in Europe and 1 Trainer in Australia. Three of the North American Trainers also regularly train in Asia.

To become an ICEEFT Trainer, a previously Certified EFT Supervisor has to obtain the agreement of two EFT Trainers that these Trainers are willing to act as mentors in the fulfillment of the Trainer Candidate requirements established by ICEEFT. A proposal is then submitted to the ICEEFT Education Committee and/or the Board of Directors. The committee will vet this proposal and then the ICEEFT Board will take into consideration the organizational needs and, make the decision to invite the EFT Supervisor to proceed to trainer-in-training status or refuse the proposal. This decision is based on the potential contribution of the candidate to EFT training as a whole, the overall priorities of ICEEFT and the perceived need for additional trainers at any given time.

Since 2013, Trainer candidates are being considered only where a trainer candidate fluently speaks a language other than English and/or in areas outside of North America and/or has made an unique contribution to the development of EFT.
