Clinical Training Program to be completed for Registration.

1. Clinical Externship on EFT 30-35 hours over 4 to 5 days) or graduate
course in Couples Therapy with extensive focus on EFT/EFFT.

2. Advanced externship on EFT (12 hours over 2 days). Each participant must present a video tape of a therapy session to the group. If this externship is unavailable in a particular area it may be replaced by eight hours of individual consultation/training with a registered EFT/EFFT therapist or Core Skills workshops presented by Center for EFT staff in North American cities. This supervision may be long distance with the Center for EFT Clinicians using video and audio tapes.

3. Clinical Consultation/Training by Registered EFT/EFFT therapist - 32 hours. This may take place in a group setting where participants offer two page transcripts of therapy for the group and the consultant (who may be providing feedback on sessions long distance) to discuss. However at least one quarter of these hours must be individual consultation (8 hours). In the case of long distance consultation contact, the trainee will submit tapes of therapy or transcripts for the consultant to comment on and discuss. Therapists at the Center for EFT and OCFI offer this service as do the supervisors listed in the EFT directory. A signed release is required from clients and therapists before this consultation process. The release form can be obtained from ocfi@magma.ca.

4. Case review. A detailed case presentation reviewed by a Registered EFT Therapist from OCFI Inc.. This case presentation must include a 3 page conceptualization, one audio or videotape segment from Stage 1 process with a distressed couple and two audio or video segments from State 2 process with a distressed couple. Transcripts of all three segments must be included. If more than one couple is presented, a case presentation is required for each couple.

For registered AAMFT Clinical Members the Advanced Externship may also be replaced by a second supplementary case presentation. This will include a case conceptualization including a description of the difficulties presented by the case and two transcripts of key change events.

Having completed the requirements outlined above the clinician may apply to the Institute for Clinical Membership/Registration. If an applicant does not meet the requirements, they will be given specific feedback, identifying the areas where improvement is needed and further development required in order to reapply.

Upon acceptance as a Clinical Member of the Center one may represent him/herself as a Registered EFT Therapist. This registration must be updated every three years by submitting a Registration Renewal Form to the Center for EFT. This form requests information such as the number of cases seen and a description of ongoing educational activities, conferences attended, etc.

The fee for Case Review is $400.
The fee for Registration is $200 payable to OCFI Inc.
The fee for renewal every three years is $100.
